Orange County Food Access Coalition
The OCFAC’s mission is to create access to healthy, local food options for Orange County’s most vulnerable residents by collaborating with Orange County businesses, government and nonprofit organizations. Their goal is to ensure that healthy, locally sourced food makes its way into the hands, kitchens and mouths of people who need it most in Orange County. The OCFAC strives to devise long-term strategies to ensure people will have unfettered access to good, nutritious food in the future by transforming our local food system.
Initiatives include establishing opportunities for community engagement in the improvement of our food system through outreach and education.
ASAP
(A SELF-HELP ASSISTANCE PROGRAM)
Operating in Zimbabwe and Malawi, ASAP helps create sustainability through micro-finance of viable businesses and through providing people with the training and tools to grow food where people are struggling and even
starving.
One of their main goals in the coming year is to replenish the nutrients in the over-farmed and chemically treated soils in the area by increasing the development and use of organic fertilizer throughout Zimbabwe.
(Find out more on our Charities and Sponsors page.)
